A month to remember! 2007-08-30
News Update

I suspect the AD Bus is going to require some attention, since so many huge targets have fallen under its wheels this month! Occassionally I have difficulty finding content to fill the home page with, but this month I have so much I don't know what to do with it all. August 2007 will be remembered as the month Ancient Dominion completed the tenth EverQuest expansion - The Depths of Darkhollow - with a sensational victory over Mayong Mistmoore. While this was just one of many huge achievements this month, let's just dwell on this one for a little while...

The build up was pretty smooth. Following on from a partial clearing of the Demiplane the previous week, we'd despatched the remaining half of Tier One a few night's earlier. Following an awe-inspiring win in Prophecy of Ro the next evening (more on that in a moment), we then completed an impressive clearance of Tier Two to set up an opportunity with the big man for the next raid. We arrived en masse with one goal... and it was a goal we finally achieved! Well done to everybody who has been involved on this and all previous attempts!

It was all over so fast, and for once that's perhaps something to brag about. Following on from our titanic victory over Sullon Zek covered in the last update, we had but one target left to overcome to gain access to Deathknell, Tower of Dissonance. In theory we should be disappointed then that such a notable target as Suchun, Blood Warden of Solusek was such a pushover.

While the event proved to be less of a challenge than originally predicted, any disappointment was rapidly washed away by the fact that upon his death, Ancient Dominion had successfully fought its way to yet another expansion end zone. While repeat flagging missions were required, that meant that we would be standing on the brink of completing the eleventh expansion already... However, four events still need to be overcome for that to happen...

SOME THINGS TO THINK ABOUT...

...when the Enchanters are about...

...when educating the masses...

...when trying to predict the future...

...when developing the next Internet phenomenon...

...when trying one of Swedie's cocktails...

...when co-ordinating events on a raid...

...when sharing the love...

...when all becomes clear...

Since our victory over Mayong released him from his mortal form and initiated his ascention, we've received word that he has attempted to seize control of the Plane of Music, home of Druzzil Ro's daughter, Ayonae Ro. Sharpen your weapons. Equip your best armour. Round up your allies. It is our duty to free Ayonae Ro before any further damage is done!!

As if all of this wasn't enough, we've also managed to find time to farm a plethora of armour and items for members of the guild, which will help us in our progression. The Demiplane of Blood, home of the now farmable Mayong Mistmoore, remains our primary farm target, but will be joined by Deathknell as we learn to overcome the events in that zone too. Gearing up will be exceptionally important later in the year when we come to start the next expansion on our hitlist: The Serpent's Spine. Some of our members have already started working on the faction missions required for TSS raids. I hope the rest will follow suit too on the off nights, while we gear them up on raid nights. The AD Bus never stops!

Meanwhile, back on the progression trail, while the re-flagging was being planned for events including Daosheen, Sullon Zek and Suchun, yet more farming of the progression variety was still required. As well as completing the three big raids, in order to enter Deathknell on your own merit you need to have looted an Inspiration page from one of the mini-bosses in the Theater of Blood. Having already frequently killed Gnarlibramble, Anastasia the Thought Drinker and Mad Mary-Anne, what better way to farm yet more pages than to add Valik the Cruel to our head count?! With the list of people still needing these items getting smaller and smaller, the day of our first raid in Deathknell loomed nearer and nearer...

And so, as a memorable month draws to a close, we have been able to pay our first brief visit to the Tower of Dissonance itself. Our initial scouting mission was made shorter than we'd like by Sony rebooting our server (they always seem to do something when we're on a roll), but at least things are set up nicely for September. Who knows what glorious victories we'll be achieving then? I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

I'll leave you this month with a quote that pretty much sums up my feelings nicely. Until next time...
