Preparing for victory 2007-06-03
News Update

It's always a delight when we get to the end of any given expansion, and the Depths of Darkhollow is no different. Just one more encounter stands between us and the completion of EverQuest's tenth expansion. The rather pale-looking chap pictured above is Mayong Mistmoore. He is all that remains before we can claim victory in the Demiplane. It's not often that such a thing can be said, however, but defeating Mayong will actually be quite beneficial to both sides: we get our victory and Mayong gets... well... something else entirely.

So, aside from taunting the for now mostly-mortal Mr. Mistmoore (try saying that after a few pints of Dwarven Ale), what else has Ancient Dominion been up to this month?

Farming... and lots of it. Part of preparing for the forthcoming battles with Mayong includes rounding up lots and lots of clickable bane weapons, of which we acquire two per successfully completed Tier Two encounter in the Demiplane. With that in mind, we've been frequenting the zone quite a lot in order to gather these items, as well as obtaining some quite nice gear along the way.

Much of our time has been spent in the Demiplane, though we had the opportunity to step outside once or twice to try out some other content. Our more relaxed raid evenings consisted of visits to Sverag and a trip to Razorthorn, where Snowtail obligingly played dead, and Ghost somewhat less obligingly obliterated the instance.

SOME THINGS TO THINK ABOUT...

...when getting in touch with your feminie side...

...when you're planning to kill the Raid Leader...

...when you're looking for the silver lining after a wipe...

...when getting to know your peers...

...when making an important point...

...when you've finished making important points...

...when you're starting to come to terms with your addiction...

...when you learn the truth...

...when looking for interesting ways to hint that the buff you really like needs refreshing...

...when faced with a difficult descision...

...when you are rudely interrupted while raiding...

...when passing the time...

...when flawlessly executing the plan...

...when enthusiasm gets the better of you...

...when in the heat of battle...

...when all is said and done...

As ever, this month hasn't been without its problems. Whether it's dead instance hamsters*, bizarre pathing, bugged trash adds, the occassional do-or-(more likely)-die mission on some of our lesser attendance nights, or certain "pulls" from one or two of our Monks who shall remain nameless (Aelius), we've come up against our fair share of issues this month.

Nevertheless, we stuck with it and on the whole we've done okay. Let's see what next month has in store for us...

* For those new to AD that are unaware of the "instance hamster" terminology, it is our belief that the machines that control the Antonius Bayle server are powered not by microprocessors, but by small rodents of the Cricetinae subfamily, who spend their evidently quite short lives running in small wheels inside the mainframe. We understand that various animal welfare groups have attempted to access the Sony Online Entertainment headquarters to liberate the hamsters, but have all been denied access and occassionally shot on sight on the grounds that they're "just a bunch of hippies".

I'll leave you with some wise words from one of our Shadow Knights. Until next time...
