Starting 2007 as we mean to go on! 2007-01-30
News Update

One could be forgiven for thinking that the members of Ancient Dominion have issues, but this guy takes the biscuit. We've probably had about half a dozen attempts at this event since we entered the Demiplane but we're finally able to put a tick next to Hatchet the Torturer on our long list of conquests. The big guy and his jolly interesting event - full of emotes and traps - was eventually overcome in a raid that could have gone either way from start to finish, with most people in it dying several times. It is a testiment to the will-power and skill of everyone in the raid that we were able to come through it and chip away at that seemingly limitless supply of health points to get the win!

Hatchet is our first major victory of 2007 and marks a return to form following a slow period in the run up to the holiday season last year. Thankfully, we've come back with a pretty impressive raid force. It seems the break has done us some good and our numbers have picked up nicely, thanks in no small part to the dedication and commitment of our members. For example...

We've been back to the Citadel of Anguish to farm some loot...

...and of course we've been back to the Demiplane...

We've had some highs...

...some lows...

...and a few other things in between...

...but through it all, we've done it in the caring, sharing family spirit that makes Ancient Dominion such a warm and friendly guild to be a part of...

In addition to our visits to Hatchet, we've also spent some time with three lovely ladies by the names of Althea, Brenda and Christine; collectively known as The Wailing Sisters.

These three charming ladies are suprisingly friendly to us - certainly when compared to some of the greetings we've had from the residents of other raid zones - though they're somewhat less charitable to each other. Perhaps what they really need is councilling or one of those "team building" days some companies insist on inflicting on their employees. Unfortunately for them, what they actually got was a visit from Ancient Dominion...

I think most of us would agree that this is far from the most interesting event that the team behind EverQuest has ever given us, but it's still a challenge at times and despite numerous victories, we've still got some work to do to ensure it's a guaranteed win every time.

We are however learning to overcome the event more consistantly and the more people learn about it, the more we see the plans carried out without a hitch.

Okay... almost without a hitch.

Before I finish this month's update, I should just like to say a big gratz to all those in the guild that have recently become fully Demiplane keyed and Curse of Blood flagged. Upon our return to raiding, we have completed all five pre-tier events (Matriarch Shyra, Bloodeye, Council of the Nine, Emperor Draygun and Sendaii the Hive Queen) to make sure the majority - if not all of our core raiding contingient are fully able to take part in the fun as we make our way slowly but surely towards Tier Two. I would like to offer a big thanks to everybody that came along to help out on this to make it the success it was. Again, gratz to everybody who is now fully flagged (including Taevok, pictured literally seconds after entering the Demiplane for the very first time last night - what can I say, I must have forgotten to hit the screenshot key when he initially clicked in).

I'll leave you this time with a few words of wisdom (*cough*) from AD's newest celebrity...
